Ariadne in Scotland

By | News

I’ve arrived in Glasgow! We’re just about to start rehearsals for Richard Strauss’ opera Ariadne auf Naxos at Scottish Opera. I’m singing the role of the Composer, which is a fun role to play and has a lot to sing. The show opens on the 22nd of March here in Glasgow. We also do a couple of shows in Edinburgh in April and in July it will transfer to London and Opera Holland Park. Hopefully you can catch it in one of these three venues!

Magic Flute in Gothenburg

Finally back to Traviata

By | News | No Comments

As last year’s production of La Traviata at Folkoperan in Stockholm had to be cancelled due to the theatre being flooded, I’m now really happy to be back in rehearsal for this exciting production in which I’m singing Violetta. It has been an unusual situation in that we rehearsed the production last year, in a different venue, for 6 weeks but without ever meeting an audience or indeed having the real set or lighting. It’s now exactly a year ago and we’ve just started where we left off last year, trying to remember what we did and getting it under our skin again.  There’s a glimpse of last year’s rehearsals here.

One show to go in Göteborg

By | News
There’s now only one show left of A Flowering Tree at Göteborgsoperan in Gothenburg. We’ve had a fantastic run of shows, introducing this opera, and in many ways, John Adams’ music to the Swedish audience. It has been great to hear the reactions of people being quite blown away by this piece.
The Swedish national radio has a brilliant opera program on Saturday nights which is hosted by Ella Peterson. She came around on the day after the opening and did an interview with me. The result you can listen to here (if your Swedish is up to scratch).

7 shows left of A Flowering Tree

The opening of A Flowering Tree 10 days ago at GöteborgsOperan went really well and we’ve had some fantastic reviews in Swedish media. Especially DN, GP, and SvD were singing our praises. Here is a trailer for the show that runs until the 28th of March. Tickets can be purchased here.

A Flowering Tree rehearsals are blossoming

By | News
We now have 3 weeks to go until the premiere of A Flowering Tree at GöteborgsOperan. We’ve had a few rehearsals on stage where I got to meet one of the trees that I’m transforming myself into, so to speak. It’s really cleverly done and looks beautiful, I think. We’re still doing detailed work in the rehearsal studio in between the stage sessions and next week we add costume and make-up. So it’s all really starting to grow now. Here you can find more info, including an interview with the director, Nicola Raab, and some video footage from rehearsals.

Time for Christmas!

By | News
It’s only 6 weeks until Christmas and I’m really looking forward to celebrate at home this year!  I’m going to sing Christmas concerts with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the symphonic choir and Sven-Bertil Taube on the 4, 5 and 6th of December. It’ll be a jam-packed program with some of the well known Christmas songs as well as some opera and operetta. What a fantastic way to meet my hometown audience for the first time! Info, tickets etc here.

Traviata postponed

By | News
This evening would have been the premiere of Traviata at Folkoperan in Stockholm where I would have been singing Violetta. Due to flooding of the opera house in July and the following damages, the performances have now been postponed until Autumn 2015. We have been rehearsing the show for 6 weeks, as planned, and will resume the rehearsals next year when we can finally open this show!
