I can now reveal some of the plans for my engagements in Sweden next season. I’ll be singing Violetta in La Traviata at Folkoperan in Stockholm, opening on the 17th of September! You can find more information here (in Swedish).  I’m really looking forward to sing this role in a house that has done a lot of interesting things recently.

Thebans preparations

Recently I got the finished score of my role Antigone in Thebans – Julian Anderson’s new opera that is to be premiered at English National Opera on the 3rd of May. So now I’m in intense preparations for this exciting project. There is some very moving music for me to sing and I can’t wait to hear it all live as rehearsals start for real. I also had a thorough read through Sophocles’ plays on which the opera is based on as it’s good to have an idea of the original.
Very soon I will be able to tell you about some up-coming plans for engagements in Sweden during the 2014-2015 season so stay put!

Rehearsals, motherhood and future plans

I have recently started rehearsals for Pagliaccio at Opera Holland Park where I will be singing Nedda, a role that I have wanted to do for a long time.  We are having a great time in the rehearsal room so far and it will be very exciting how it all will turn out. Opening night is on June 4. You can find more information here.
Other news is that English National Opera has announced their 2013/2014 season in which I am looking forward to two very exciting engagements: Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus in a production directed by Christopher Alden and the role of Antigone in Thebans – a new commission by the British composer Julian Anderson. For more information about ENO’s season, watch the trailer here.
The biggest news however are on a more personal level as I have recently become a mother to a gorgeous little boy! His father and I are enjoying a very precious time as first time parents.
